Dr. Vinay Sunku
Dr. Vinay Sunku is a highly experienced physician specialized in Internal Medicine and Nephrology and has been practicing in Lancaster, CA. He is affiliated with all the local hospitals in the Antelope Valley, including Antelope Valley Hospital and Palmdale Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and completed his medical degree at Bangalore Medical College. He then moved to New York and completed his Internal Medicine residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, and soon after his Nephrology fellowship at Stony Brook School of Medicine. He earned his board certifications in Internal Medicine and Nephrology in 1995 and 1997 respectively. He has since been practicing in the Antelope Valley for almost three decades.
Dr. Sunku has been running his private practice since 1998, and has also been Medical Director of the Antelope Valley Kidney Institute since 2006. During his career, he has served as Credential Committee Chair, Treasurer, and Secretary on the Medical Executive Committee of Antelope Valley Medical Center.
Dr. Sunku provides care for many patients, and has particular expertise in Dialysis, High Blood Pressure, Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), Acute Kidney Failure, Post Kidney Transplant Care, and End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) / Kidney Failure. He always aims to provide the best care for his patients, carefully taking time to make sure the patients understand everything, explaining any questions patients have to ask, and being very thorough in his process.

What Insurances Do You Accept?
We accept Medicare and all major PPO insurance plans. You will need a referral from your Primary Care Doctor if you are a member of a Managed Care or HMO Plan.
If there is any change in your medical insurance coverage while under our care, please notify us as soon as possible. You will be responsible for any bills if your insurance company declines to pay the charges.
What Should I Bring For An Appointment?
Bring your insurance card and one other form of ID. If possible, bring ALL your medications, otherwise please bring a list of your medications along with their doses and frequency. Bring any medical records of other doctors visits and medication changes so we can keep our records updated for your chart.
FOR ALL NEW PATIENTS: We advise bringing all your medical records OR request your referring provider to send your medical records. Additionally, please come at least 20 minutes early to fill out our new patient packet. Alternatively, you can download and print the New Patient Paperwork from our website (in our Resources tab) and fill it out before you come for your appointment.

What Is Nephrology?
